Media language has been used differently to represent/attract the target audience. These magazine covers have been portrayed in different ways.  The 'Top of the Pops' magazine uses a colour palette of pink, reds and purples, this attracts the stereotypical  teenage girls, whereas 'The Source' magazine uses red, black and white, attracting young men in their 20s. The 'Top of the Pops' magazine has a lot of minor images, teasing what is in the magazine. In the other hand, 'The Source' has no other images only the main one.Although, both magazines use a main image of an artist, one being Dr. Dre a medium close-up shot with half of the image cropped and the other being Jessie J with also a medium close-up shot but mostly covered by pop-ups excluding her face. The layout of 'The Source' magazine is very organised with a low amount of lexis and one main image. However the 'Top of the Pops' is very messy and cluttered with loads of lexis...

The color palette of the image is monochrome, to attract the older audience that used to listen to Fleetwood Mac and to show how newspapers used to be like due to black and white having a lower cost and sounding more serious. The...

MOJO magazine uses media language and genre conventions to appeal to a specific target audience. They feature a single band(in black and white) on the front cover, and reflect them into their younger age, this connotes that the target audience is quite old. The front cover follows the convention of having a simple colour palette of black white and red.
