Practise Question On Music Video (4 mark)

Explain one way in which music videos use media language to differ each other. Refer to one example of contrasting of media language in two music videos you have studied to support your answer. shot types camera angles mise en scene Music videos use media language such as the use of camera angles to create different effects on the meaning of the music video and the song itself. 'Sk8er Boi' by Avril Lavigne uses quick medium low angle shots on the  skaters to represent their fiery lifestyle, whereas 'Teenage Dirtbag' by Wheatus uses high medium close-up angles on the main character to connote him as a victim and less powerful while the bullies are shown in low medium close-up angles, this is to contrast the main character and to show that they are superior.

Music Videos are comprised of three types of image Performance: Simple and direct. Conceptual clips: Further broken down into narrative and artistic . A pure narrative clip contains no lip-synchronised singing and a visual story easy to follow.  If the story is an idea or a "concept', then it will also be conceptual. Music videos use artistic elements to enhance the overall piece. Some videos are purely artistic since they show sequences with no obvious narrative or singing . They can be describe as artistic because they can purposely manipulate images but don't tell any sort of story . Purely artistic videos are more common in electronic or experimental videos.
